My Practice

Over the past 25 years, patients have said:

  • That I am intelligent, warm, compassionate, engaged, attuned, interested, and non-judgmental — all of which makes me very supportive.
  • That I’m honest, straightforward, and fearless — which means that I can be challenging, when challenge is what you need.
  • That I’m very clear.
  • That I clarify situations and put my finger on what’s central. That means I’m good at helping you to remove obstacles that are blocking your path.

Our Relationship

A special environment is necessary for successful psychotherapy. Together, we need to deeply understand your interior landscape, to attend to both what you know and struggle with, and to discover things that you don’t yet know about yourself.

That calls for complete privacy, emotional safety, reliability, and support. You must feel safe so that you can talk about what is on your mind, honestly and completely. Everything that you tell me — including the fact that you’re seeing me at all — is completely confidential.

As your therapist, I will bring warmth and careful, calm listening to our sessions. During a regular meeting, at least once a week, we will have a special type of conversation — one that leads to new understanding and to change.

My Patients

I have worked with people ranging in age from 18 to 85, couples and individuals, heterosexual, lesbian, and gay. Although most of them have been white or Asian-American, I have also helped Latinos, African-Americans, Europeans, Middle Easterners — the whole diversity of the Bay Area.

I have worked with entrepreneurs, professionals, academics, and many artists seeking to overcome creative blocks, among others.
